Configuring Windows Live Mail

To setup a new account, click Add email account. To view or edit account settings, right-click on the account name to the left and click Properties.

General account settings are shown below. The description will be the account name as shown in the image above. The Name and E-mail address will be the ones shown to recipients when you e-mail them. Check the box for Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing.

Server information is shown below. Under Incoming Mail Server, make sure Log on using clear text authentication is selected. Under Outgoing Mail Server, make sure My server requires authentication is checked.

Advanced settings are shown below. Check This server requires a secure connection (SSL) under both Outgoing mail (SMTP) and Incoming mail (POP3). The outgoing mail port should be 587. The incoming mail port should be 110 or 995 for POP3 or 143 or 993 for IMAP.

Do not use mail.pacific.net!
Port: 587 (STARTTLS enabled)

Password: Email address password
Authentication is required.
